Detroit Super Mogul, Justin Hatchett, Talks About How To Make It As An Entrepreneur, Building Community, & The Three Things You Must Do Right Now to FLY

Fulfilling Life’s Yearnings Is Finding Your Passion Regardless of What Everyone Else Says; Finding That One Thing That Gives You Purpose For Life. - Justin Hatchett

What’s up FLY Fam®!

Today’s FLY guest is a Super Mogul. He’s an image consultant, creative director, CEO and fashion designer for Top Shelf or Die, involved in artist management, and so much more, and he is making his first appearance in the FLY Zone®. This Super Mogul is Justin Hatchett. Justin is a 22 year old from Detroit that I had the pleasure of meeting IRL a few days before he came on the show. We both happened to be in Detroit at the world famous Eastern Market.

I was down there with my mom, shooting a commercial for our fashion line, LIVE IT! LOVE IT! Detroit®, and Justin was down there getting his models ready for The Walk Fashion Show audition that was taking place in one of the event sheds there, before heading to his own fashion show across town.

We connected again the next day over the phone, chatted in person the day after that, and had the interview for Fulfilling Life’s Yearnings on Friday, October 13, 2017 @ 11am, and the episode was phenomenal, as Justin provided so much value that I could take everything we talked about and make a powerful course from it that would accelerate your FLY life in the most powerful/impactful way, whether you’re entrepreneurial like Justin, or not. It doesn’t matter.

Founder and CEO of Bookie Bookz, Alex Hernandez, Talks About His New Business, The Entrepreneur’s Journey, and Doing What You Gotta Do

Fulfilling Life’s Yearnings Is “Meraki” (Putting Yourself Into Something And Giving It Life). - Alex Hernandez

What’s up FLY Zone,

Today’s FLY guest is making his second appearance on Fulfilling Life’s Yearnings, and I was glad to have him on at this time because I haven’t been actively recording new podcast episodes, since I have been in school taking my science classes at the University of Michigan (More on this later in a different post). I was actually studying when Alex texted me and asked if we could get on the mic and do a show together to catch up and talk about his new business, Bookie Bookz, which launched on Saturday, November 5, 2016. We talked the next day on Sunday, November 6. Bookie Bookz is a new book subscription service that gives you access to a growing library dedicated to your personal and professional growth. You find a book you want to read and Bookie Bookz sends it Straight To Your Doorstep. You read the book and invest in your knowledge, and once finished, you send it back in one of Bookie Bookz prepaid shipping labels. Bookie Bookz then sends you the next book you have in your online queue. You can check out Bookie Bookz at www.bookiebookz.com.

Besides talking about his new project, we also had a real conversation about what his life is like now, compared to last year, and the journey he’s been on since his first appearance on the show. In his own words, juggling his job, his entrepreneurship venture, and his relationships with the people he loves has been a struggle for him and he wasn’t shy about discussing that.

We also get specific about how you execute on your goal to make it a reality, and he brought up entrepreneur and podcaster, Pat Flynn, and his book, Will It Fly? The book talks about mind-mapping your goal, reverse engineering it into actionable steps, and consistently following a game plan for those steps, every day.

To go along with that, Alex talked about a growth/progress hack he has been doing for years, which he calls daily disciplines, and it is exactly what it sounds like. He has a checklist of 3-5 things that he does every day, that matter to him. Regardless of whatever else is going on in his day to day life, he knows that if he does those 3-5 things, it was a great day.

To hear him explain this daily discipline growth hack, check out the success diary video series on his blog.

Before we ended the show, it was refreshing to hear why Alex does what he does every day, and how he manages to stay steadfast on his entrepreneurial journey. He expressed that he loves what he does, and is aware that he has to (excuse the expression, “Eat shit” for a while) or do what he has to do until he can do what he wants to do. With entrepreneurialism flowing through his body, it’s only a matter of time until being able to do what he wants to do all the time is a reality.

Things we talked about are:

  • Bookie Bookz and how you can sign-up
  • His entrepreneurial journey
  • His Daily Disciplines
  • Having a partner that supports him
  • Asking yourself why the things that are important to you, are important to you
  • Juggling job, entrepreneurship, and personal relationships
  • The first time Alex and I talked on the podcast - Listen to it here!

Author, Shira Taylor Gura, Talks About Getting unSTUCK

Fulfilling Life’s Yearnings Is Being Present in Every Moment. - Shira Taylor Gura

What is up FLY Zone,

Man it feels good to be back with the goods, after my much needed hiatus. There was a reason for it, and I’ll be having much more info about that in the coming future, but for today, let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves. There’s a reason for this post. Shira Taylor Gura joins me on the podcast to talk about: Emotions, Relationships, and Well-being, and it is great, and beneficial, and you’re going to love it.

So who is this Shura Taylor Gura? Well for starters, she is a phenomenal women, wife, and mother of four. She is also the author of the brand new book, Getting unSTUCK - Five Simples Steps to Emotional Well-Being. She created The S.T.U.C.K. Method™ by drawing on her training as an occupational therapist and yoga instructor, and I can’t even beging to tell you how meaningful it was to have Shira on the show talking about emotional well-being because I needed to hear her message.

What made this episode experience so unique was that Shira, who lives in northern Israel, is the one who reached out to me to come on as a guest, after hearing about me on The Highly Sensitive Person Podcast, which is hosted by none other than Fulfilling Life’s Yearnings guest superstar, Kelly O’Laughlin.

Needless to say, I felt honored, humbled, grateful, that someone from the other side of the world someone I’ve never met, knew about Fulfilling Life’s Yearnings and wanted to be part of this amazing story that’s being created everyday.

(So Shira, I know you are reading this. Thank you for being a first for me on the show! My Emotional Well-Being was definitely at a high, after talking with you, and it still is!)

Here’s a little bit more background on Shira…

She’s a well-being coach, that facilitates engaging and interactive workshops and retreats ranging from corporate offices, to educational and religious institutions, and community centers. Her belief that a more mindful, compassionate life is available to anyone, anywhere is reflected in her blog (www.thestuckmethod.com ).

In this episode, here is what you’ll hear:

  • Shira’s background
  • How her blog came about and what led to her writing her brand new book!
  • A walk-through of the simple five steps of The S.T.U.C.K. Method™ (So Money!!!)
  • How she feels about what she is doing
  • How you can join her Facebook group, Getting UnStuck
  • Details about her upcoming book tour!!!
  • Future plans for The S.T.U.C.K. Method™
  • Shira’s definition of Fulfilling Life’s Yearnings

Fulfilling Life’s Yearnings Is When You Get A Call, You Have To Answer It. Especially When It’s Something That Throws You For A Loop and Pushes You Out Of Your Comfort Zone. - Austin Floyd

What’s up FLY Zone,

Today I have the privilege of talking with Lifestyle Blogger, Austin Floyd. It was a long time coming, and I am glad that we were finally able to connect. He is a family friend of my brother’s girlfriend’s family, and my brother’s girlfriend’s mom has been saying that Austin and I should talk, since we are interested in the same topics.

It was cool talking with Austin because he was very transparent about his story. He’s also very knowledgable, so I asked him plenty of questions related to self development.

If Fulfilling Life’s Yearnings is something that you want to be known for and you want to create a life that excites you and drives you, this is a great episode to listen to.

Just so you know, Austin is a lifestyle blogger, lifehacker, and hard worker, who in the last 6 months, radically changed his life. After getting an offer in a facebook group to work for the health and fitness role model he was following at the time, he jumped at the opportunity, dropped out of school, and moved from Michigan to Florida. This all came about because of his personal blog, Mindfullifestyle.net, now called Heightenedliving.com.

Now at 21, he is living directly on the beach in Florida, with only the ability to excel at anything of his choosing.

His 3 Favorite Topics To Talk About are:

  • Routines and Habits
  • Health and Fitness
  • Productivity

In this episode, you’ll discover:

  • His story
  • What happened when he reached his lowest point
  • How he got into blogging, and what his first blog, Mindfullifestyle.net was about
  • What to do when you metaphorically hit a wall in your life
  • The key areas that dictate your day: Sleep and Awake
  • What optimal sleep is
  • Austin’s Sleep and Awake routine and why they are crucial
  • Why Austin dropped out of college
  • What gave Austin the confidence to jump at the opportunity that was presented to him
  • The 5 Fundamentals of Heightened Living
  • What Austin has in store for the future
  • Austin’s definition of Fulfilling Life’s Yearnings

Kate Gremillion Talks About Mavenly + Co., and Designing A Career + Life With Purpose

May 9, 2016
00:0000:00

Fulfilling Life’s Yearnings Is Waking Up Everyday Knowing That What You’re Gonna Do That Day Is Something You Love. - Kate Gremillion

What’s up FLY Zone,

Today we get the opportunity to hear from Kate Gremillion (pronounced Gra-me-on). Kate is the founder of Mavenly + Co., a community of young women having honest conversations about navigating college, career + lief with purpose and intention. She provides workshops for women transitioning to college and the workplace and specializes in women in leadership, interpersonal communication and public relations.

So I connected with Kate through Instagram. I started following her MAVENLYCO account after I saw a like from her account on one of my photos. I went over to the account, checked out the content and loved what was being posted, so I went to mavenly.co to learn more about Mavenly + Co., and who created it.

On the website, I learned that Kate founded Mavenly + Co. I then read a letter from her sharing her story and how Mavenly + Co was born. I thought to myself, this is great. Let’s reach out to Kate and she if she would be able to come on as a guest.

She of course said yes, and I am grateful that she did, as I love connecting with positive people like Kate. It was cool talking with her because she manifested her goal into reality, after having a sort-of quarter-life crisis, once she was working in the real world. She was open and honest about her experiences and also provided valuable takeaways that can be applied today.

Though we did not talk about it on the show, a cool fact about Kate is that she is also a podcast host. Her show is called Mavenly. I listened to it the other day, and the show is great. It’s women having honest conversations with modern women about work and life.

This episode is for you if Fulfilling Life’s Yearnings is what you want to do. Whether you are a guy or girl, young or old, this episode will help you FLY.

Time for the show!

Her 3 Favorite Topics To Talk About are:

  • Reducing Overwhelm, Building Confidence
  • Creating A Life By Your Own Design
  • Negotiation

In this episode, you’ll discover:

  • Kate’s story
  • How Mavenly + Co was born
  • What the Mavenly mindset is
  • What’s it like going to the Mavenly + Co. workshop and who it is for
  • How to Design your Lifestyle
  • What the infamous Sunday Night Syndrome and how to alleviate it
  • The Power of Habit
  • The importance of only doing 3 major task each day that move you forward and why
  • What it feels like for Kate to be in the position that she is in
  • Kate’s definition of Fulfilling Life’s Yearnings

Decide Then Live With The Consequences. w/ Life Decided Co-Founders, Colin and Riley Nielsen

Fulfilling Life’s Yearnings Is Choosing Life, Over The Stories You Want Life To Tell About You. - Life Decided

What’s up FLY Zone,

Brothers, Colin and Riley Nielsen join me on the podcast. Colin is 7 years older than Riley. I met Colin and Riley through their Instagram account, @LifeDecided, after they liked one of my photos. I went over to check out their account, which is full of motivational content, and then checked out their blog, LifeDecided.com. I loved the content that they have on their platforms, so I reached out to them using the Direct Messaging capability of Instagram on April 23, 2016 at 8:27pm.

I said to them:

Hey Colin and Riley, love the work you guys are doing as Decision Coaches. Very inspiring.

I am the host of Fulfilling Life’s Yearnings, a podcast where I interview people like you guys. Would love to connect and have the both of you on as guests and hear your stories. The show would be 30 minutes and we would meet on Skype. Would you guys be game to come on as special guests?

They followed up with me shortly after and then scheduled a time to come on the show.

Let me tell you a little about Colin and Riley. They are two brothers dedicated to creating and cultivating the lifestyle they believe people were meant to have. They believe that true change starts with a decision, but there are prerequisites to making that decision in it’s honest and sincere form. They help people get to that point, then flourish after.

We talked for about 50 minutes.

Their 3 Favorite Topics To Talk About are:

  • Habits
  • The mind
  • Success

In this episode, you’ll discover:

  • Riley and Colin’s stories
  • What Life Decided is
  • How the relationship is between Colin and Riley
  • How to figure out what you want to do
  • How to form Habits
  • The Life Decided Blueprint
  • Why they use Instagram as their #1 platform
  • 3 Keys for building your brand on Instagram
  • What Colin and Riley’s roles are in Life Decided
  • What's next for Life Decided
  • Each brother’s definition of Fulfilling Life’s Yearnings:
    • Colin said, Fulfilling Life's Yearnings is uncovering that yearning and then working on it constantly because the more you work on it, the more you’ll be able to define it.
    • Riley said, Fulfilling Life’s Yearnings is choosing life over the stories you want life to tel about you.

What’s up FLY Zone,

Today’s guest is the beautiful and smart and adventurous, Amanda Zimmerman. She is also my #wcw for the week. (Hey Amanda :) ). Amanda is another guest that I reached out to online, after I saw her mentioned in a post on Facebook. I follow her mom, Sue B. Zimmerman, because she’s an Instagram expert, and as I was checking out her page, I came across a post that was congratulating Amanda, who was just recently on a podcast, sharing her experience from living in four cities in four months.

When I saw that, I thought to myself, that is so badass. And what really got me interested in connecting with her is the fact that she is a Millennial as well. As a matter of fact, she is a FLY Millennial.

Amanda is not your average 20-something. After graduating college in 2014 and working at her first 9-to-5, she left her unfulfilling job and lived in 4 cities in 4 months to explore how to truly live with purpose.

Her personal blog, dresseswithpockets.net, houses tales from her nomadic personal journey.

Her 3 Favorite Topics To Talk About are:

  • Why college doesn’t prepare students for the “real world”
  • Putting yourself in uncomfortable and unfamiliar situations to push yourself and figure out what you want to do with yourself
  • Cold emailing and reaching out to strangers

In this episode, you’ll discover:

  • Amanda’s story (01:20).
  • How Amanda was able to take the leap to leave her job and how her journey started (03:34).
  • If there was any fear/doubt in her mind about what she was doing and how she dealt with it (08:08).
  • How she would address people from the different cities she went to, asking her why she was doing what she did, and how she was able to make money (13:00).
  • What Amanda was doing in each city (15:15).
  • If there was a point during her experience that she thought she was plateauing (19:26).
  • What Amanda got out of her experience from going to four cities in four months and whether she found her calling – she did. Leadership and Personal development for teens (21:30).
  • Why Amanda feels that college doesn’t prepare students for the “real world” – college didn’t stress the importance of networking; actually getting to know people (26:30).
  • The worst thing that can happen when you reach out to a person – they can say no. If they do say no, those are the people you don’t want to meet with anyways (29:20).
  • What wakes Amanda up in the morning and ready to live (30:00).
  • What she did can be replicated. Just take the mindset she had and apply it where you live (32:00).
  • What are steps we could take to do the same thing in our own backyard (33:20).
      • Go on Twitter and Instagram and find local people who you are interested in and tap into other people’s social media networks
      • Send them a message to meet
  • Did reaching out to people come easy to Amanda – Her suggestion is to force yourself to do it (35:25).
  • A few books that Amanda recommends and the one that inspired her journey (38:15).
  • How her current job fits into what she wants to do because of her VIP (Value, interests, and principals) (42:20).
  • Amanda’s definition of Fulfilling Life’s Yearnings (44:45) – Fulfilling Life’s Yearnings is Taking your seriously.
  • The importance of journaling and when Amanda does it – you can google prompts for journaling (47:20).

My favorite part of doing these podcasts is participating in the conversation they provoke. Each episode, I ask one FLY question. This episode, it is this:

Question: Amanda talked how she forced herself into uncomfortable situations to help her grow. What uncomfortable situation have you put yourself in recently, which helped you grow and/or learn what you are made of? Share your answer on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or LinkedIn.
