Blake Giovanni Thomas Soulet, and if you're ready to be your best by writing the script of your life to whatever you want it to be, and taking action on your dreams.

Blake Soulet: [00:02:22] Then this is the podcast for you. It's time to enter the FLY Zone.

Blake Soulet: [00:02:45] What's up everybody! It's The FLY Host you love the most, and I'm back with another episode of Fulfilling Life's Yearnings. And today guys I have a wonderful guest that actually found me Google search which is really cool because he's from the Denver area. So it's always a fun time when when different people connect with your work and actually reach out to you. So today's guest is Carma Baughman and Carma, how are you doing today?

Carma Baughman: [00:03:14] I'm doing great Blake.

Blake Soulet: [00:03:16] That is excellent. You know that's always one of the things I start off with but just before we get right into it Carma... Tell us you know who you are and um give us your background and your history.

Carma Baughman: [00:03:29] Sure. So right now I've had kind of a varied career journey and my most recent venture is helping others get unstuck at work. I'm very passionate about about helping others really be in the position they're designed for. So that's my current focus, but the way I got here is kind of a lot of twists and turns throughout my career I've been into. I had been in the corporate world for a number of years realized fairly quickly that wasn't part probably quite what I was designed to do and then took up some other opportunities along the side. I did some became a full time instructor at a community college realized I love training others I love helping others in the midst of that the opportunities come up while doing that to actually help the people in my class have also done some corporate training.

Carma Baughman: [00:04:20] So the different students that would cross my path would come back to me at some point later on wondering how'd you get into what you're doing or can you tell me what I need to learn to ignore scuse me to get down to this position or go on this career path. So I found in the midst of my journey I love helping others really find what they want to do. And you know Blake you're you're are what really stood out to me when I found you on the Google was the name of your podcast, Fulfilling Life's Yearnings and that's really what I was doing for these individuals that would come back and ask me how do I get to where I want to go. What do I need to do what do I need to learn who do I need to talk with and those kinds of things so I'm not focused on really helping others. I call it get unstuck at work. So really find a position or positions that works for them.

Blake Soulet: [00:05:08] Now I really love that because that that to me is the epitome of what life is about, you know, Fulfilling YOUR Life's Yearnings and I love how you say you know be in the position that you're designed for the ads. So let's add some concreteness to that. What would would be an example of what you're doing to help someone find that position that they're designed for?

Carma Baughman: [00:05:34] You know the way the way we start the process I think too often and and we've all experienced this when we go to a meet up to say to some group or whatever it might be or even to some family event. [00:05:46] The first question we hear or the first question we may ask others, "So what do you do?"

Carma Baughman: [00:05:52] And there's something about that question that really I don't like because what's happening there is although I haven't come up with a better question at this point. But what's happening there is our culture is letting work define who we are. So when I work with individuals I want to do kind of the opposite of that instead of having work define who we are. I want to know who they are as individuals and then find the work that align with who they are. [31.8] So we start with discovering who they are so the first step is actually discovering their values what's important to them. It might be that say for example they're in a season of life where they really have to make a lot of money. So if that's the case that defines what type of jobs we go after. It may they may be in a season where you know I have small kids at home. I want to spend time with my family so that defines what kind of work and what kind of possessions we we will go after. [00:06:45] So it starts with who they are and defining their values and what's important to them. And then we'll talk a bit about where they're at today what experiences have they had up to this point and what has been great about those experiences what hasn't worked with those experiences. And if they're in a current position where they're not really satisfied we may look at into. [23.1]

[00:07:08] Is there any small tweaks we can do with where they're currently at to better fit who they are and the point of this I would call [00:07:18] tweaking exercise [1.3] is to get them into a position where they're at least okay with where they're at so they can move forward and it we made find out that maybe there's not nothing we can do in their current position. But that's that's helpful information. Even at that point. [00:07:35] And then from there we'll look at what what is your ideal job would write down. What would the task who would they be working with. If their location is Portland where would it be. [13.7] Actually is it. Is it a more of a home office setting or corporate setting and those types of things should really write down their ideal job description [00:07:57] and then the last step be actually defined is the last step is to take massive action so we find the steps to really get to their ideal job position. [8.5] I always tell the people I work with them the clients come come on board is you know this is what it looks like today. And I've been through many seasons in my life as well. Ten years from now it may look a little bit different maybe even five years from now especially with how fast things change. So this is more rare today to get where you want to be five years down the road. It may look a little bit different. We may go through the same exercises again to define the next step on the career journey.

Blake Soulet: [00:08:34] I love that. So I'm talking with Carma Baughman guys. So Carma before we move on. Can you just go through the listing of those six steps again?

Carma Baughman: [00:08:45] Absolutely. So real quickly, number one is discovering their values and defining who they are.

Carma Baughman: [00:08:50] Number two is defining where they're at today in their job position.

Carma Baughman: [00:08:56] And number three. Number three is is there something we can tweak in your current position.

Carma Baughman: [00:09:03] Number four is write down your ideal job description.

Carma Baughman: [00:09:09] Five is actually. I don't think I mentioned this previously. Five is define the gap where they are today and where they want to be and what can we do in that gap.

Carma Baughman: [00:09:18] And there's six, is take massive action.

Blake Soulet: [00:09:21] I love number five because that is so important for helping you future. You know. See yourself in the future if you stay in that same position as opposed to like saying you got that new job and basing it off of your list. Now you're in the ideal situation and you have more happiness. You know you are more fulfilled in your life. So that's really cool.

Carma Baughman: [00:09:45] Exactly. And I would say Step Five where you where you are you're spending defining that gap and what steps you need to take to get where you want to be once I get clients into that gap. That's where they get very excited and very energized because that even though they may not be in a different position yet they know they're working towards that and maybe in the gap you're picking up skills that you might need or maybe in the gap you're having conversations with people that can help you get to where you need surely defining what we need to do and that gap is very energizing for my client at a very exciting moment in their lives as they move forward.

Blake Soulet: [00:10:21] Right. You're like expanding their map. You know, they didn't.

Carma Baughman: [00:10:25] Exactly.

Blake Soulet: [00:10:25] ... They couldn't picture it before and you come along and help them see it, you know, with outside eyes.

Carma Baughman: [00:10:29] Exactly. And when you bring that up Blake it reminds me of a client that I worked with just recently I came across him he was in a corporate job and still is in a corporate job actually. But he really wasn't aware of even the opportunities that are out there are available out there so often. And this is true in my own journey is it is especially when I came out of high school going to college. The question so what are you going to study and I or what are you going to do. And I had no idea because my world was so small and there's nothing wrong with the world being small but oftentimes it's just making people aware of what's out there and what opportunities might be. And there really are things that you can do that really fit who you are and the world needs that as well.

Blake Soulet: [00:11:13] So when you're doing that and you're talking about the one of the clients who just before we get to how you actually help them find these opportunities or be able to expand the map if you will. How you know as a business person someone who's doing really well in you're working with clients and being able to expand your influence and serve so many people how do you go about establishing these connections to the point where you're able to have these clients that you can work with? [36.1]

Carma Baughman: [00:11:51] That's a great question. And you know I I still have that question for myself how do I go out there and find the people that I can really help. I think it's a great question an ongoing question.

Carma Baughman: [00:12:02] The way I've done it I've I guess I've used my different job positions on opportunities that have been in my career journey to make those connections. So I was a corporate trainer for a period of time and a lot of people crossed my path during that time that that needed that kind of assistance or had those kinds of questions you know. And even if you think about a training environment they're already wanting to learn something either to advance their skills or to learn new skills. So that prime candidates of wanting to know more about hydrated it on the career journey that works best for me. I think even finding podcasts like like yours where there is there is your audience will be people that know there is something more than just going to a 9 to 5 job. So you get on get get on these podcasts like this to share to share what you're doing other ways. There are a couple of things that come to mind. And I think back to my experiences that have crossed my past as well. I think being in the corporate world getting involved to and I know that my recent in the recent contract position I had where we're we have talked about crisis has crossed my path. Getting involved in like developing others so maybe there's there's an organization actually this could be within a corp within a corporation could also be even meet-up groups in the local area that are big on personal development or leadership development. People are attracted to those types of meet ups or those types of groups of people that want to do more. They want to give out more.

Carma Baughman: [00:13:51] So there are ways that I have done in the past to get people to have people cross my path that might be interested in this type of service or help or coaching whatever you want when you might want to call it.

Carma Baughman: [00:14:03] Does answer your question Blake?

Blake Soulet: [00:14:04] That does. That is actually fascinating. So I wanted to ask you about what what it was like being a corporate trainer. What was your task or job in that role?

Carma Baughman: [00:14:19] So with that position I was actually a contract trainer and most in the Denver area but also in some other major cities in the United States where they would ask me to come on board and my folks my background is technology and also creativity. So when you combine those two it's digital design graphic design web design. So I was a corporate training. I was a corporate trainer to help advance those skills. So how do you use for example Photoshop or how to use your Adobe Creative Cloud how to how to create Web sites. So that was and I would get people in from all kinds of from from major corporations to small companies when we come to these trainings. So that's how I got into that was and I had a background I had a background in training prior to that as well.

Blake Soulet: [00:15:16] Okay awesome and then from that. You know since that's also something that I'm always looking to do more of. [00:15:24] What was your biggest takeaway from from that experience when you were like oh wow this is, you know.

Blake Soulet: [00:15:32] You know one time two times three times I've been up here doing these you know speeches and or these training programs and it's fulfilling me. What was always your takeaway as the trainer whether or not the audience was receiving what you were teaching them? [23.1]

Carma Baughman: [00:15:48] That's a great question. You could you could tell by by watching their eyes and their body and their body language and you could tell by the interaction amongst the students and the interaction with you if if the students or the people attending that training were very quiet. That really bothered me because that told me I'm not getting to them. Either I'm not presenting it right. I'm not explaining it I'm not I'm not connecting with them. So I'd have to just what I was doing either it backed up a little bit and started over or I asked them outright so what's so what's working here what's not working. But I could really tell in their body language. And these days I would do workshops and there were two to five day workshops so if they left at the end of this two or five days whichever workshop it was if they walked out that door excited about what they had learnt and could wait to get go back to work to apply what they learned then I did my job. If if they left confused then I did not do my job and that didn't happen very often because I really enjoyed what I was doing and it was a priority for me to get them excited about what they were learning. Plus even the topics that I was doing most people came into them wanting to know more it's not like all they have said they may do this training class to learn these rules and regulations.

Carma Baughman: [00:17:14] They are sending them to this training class so they can be more creative in their work and usually individuals are very excited about that. So that was a plus already even before they showed up at my workshop.

Blake Soulet: [00:17:25] That's awesome so you're more more interactive with the audience. You Know some back and forth and allowing for questions throughout or how how was your process.

Carma Baughman: [00:17:36] Absolutely I love questions throughout. I did not want to get to the end of a couple hours or half a day or a full day and realized oh my gosh they got stuck way back there. I needed interaction right away. And usually the people in your audience really respond to that still have questions you do have a quiet ones and you have the ones that are more outgoing but still you can tell especially if you're in a classroom setting which these were you can tell if you're connecting or not just by kind of watching them even if they don't say anything.

Blake Soulet: [00:18:06] Exactly. So I love that. Now I'm listening to you talk. All of that with the talk and are are you originally from the Denver area?

Carma Baughman: [00:18:15] No.

Blake Soulet: [00:18:15] I didn't think so. To me you sound like you're from Canada?!

Carma Baughman: [00:18:22] Oh that's interesting you know what, I grew up on a small farm in Iowa.

Blake Soulet: [00:18:27] Iowa! Okay.

Carma Baughman: [00:18:27] Yes. Yes. That's that's funny. I've also been, not accused, what would be the word? I've also been asked if I am from the south.

Blake Soulet: [00:18:38] OK.

Carma Baughman: [00:18:38] So I just say you know, I'm from southern Iowa.

Blake Soulet: [00:18:40] OK very cool.

Blake Soulet: [00:18:53] Yeah Canada yea. That's awesome. So yeah we've been talking about you know just your career journey. Then you also gave us your 6 Step System and also for helping others get unstuck at work. Now one of one of the fascinations that always comes up for me when I'm working with clients is that they oftentimes don't even know what their values are or even how you know begin this process. Can you walk us through an example of someone you've worked with, where they just like really really didn't know or even have a clue what they wanted to do?

Carma Baughman: [00:19:36] Yes. It brings to mind. And that's and that's a very common question is I don't even know what my values are and I don't even know what my passions are. Where do we start. I take him through and I did a workshop with a couple of other individuals. It's been a couple of years now where we had a group of 20 to 25 people in the workshop. And there was a gentleman in there who is very very dissatisfied about what his current position he was working at a local hire like a local electrical place. I think he was in the office doing some office work and he was just very very unhappy where he was at. And he was one of those individuals he had no idea what he really wanted to do. So he took him through an exercise. And I do this with my clients even to this day I take him you know you can go out you can look at it.

Carma Baughman: [00:20:33] There's always a list of values you can check off what's important to you. But even that's very very difficult. It may. I do have my clients do that if that's of help to them because at least gets them thinking about values. But what I found even a more productive exercise with better results is I had them whatever age I have there. I have them divide their age by three. So now we have these three age groups. What's important about this and what I like about this exercise is it brings up their childhood days. You know too often when the grown to adulthood life becomes more structured and it needs to be to a degree because more structured. We get more responsibility and we kind of forget who we were back as young children. So that's why I liked when the reason why I liked this exercise and now we have these three age groups. So let's say somebody is 30. So here we have that age group has zero to tan 10 to 20 and 20 to 30. Then I have them think about. So when you are from zero to 10 and sometimes can be difficult, have them think about what were you. What were accomplishments for you in that age group? What did you feel good about that something that you did not know so somebody telling you that you did that you remember doing it and you felt good about it? So I had them write down those accomplishments in those three different age groups and usually they'll come up with anywhere from three or more. I've had some people put like 10. And then that's good.

Carma Baughman: [00:21:59] But then I want to go a little bit deeper with them and ask them why did they feel like an accomplishment. Or what's the reason why that is an accomplishment in your mind when they start doing that. You're going to see patterns of the reasons why these felt like accomplishments. So for example if someone likes to help others they're going to see that come up over and over [sic.] Because now this person could do this where they couldn't do it before because I helped them or I trained them. Now if I go back to this individual that I'm thinking of when he was doing this exercise when it came out that he really liked when he liked helping others. Well maybe even more important serving others. But he also liked using his hands in building things or fixing things or creating things. And he also had an artistic nature to them. He liked a drawing. So he's very creative and not right away but eventually be able determine what you know your job really isn't a fit for you. There's really a whole lot we can do in the current job to make it fits. But he was OK with that because you are moving towards something else and it happened with him it also happens. I've seen it as a class as well. Even though we may not find our current right position for them to now become much more of way of aware of what works for them or what they need to look for because he was much more aware of what he needed to look for.

Carma Baughman: [00:23:32] There was another position that came up says are completely different from what he was doing. There is a local organization looking for somebody to take care of their property actually live on the property and take care of the property and not only do maintenance to fix things but also do outside landscape work which is where his creativity came into play. He got and he got into that position and he absolutely flourished. He came back to me probably six months after that happened he said you know it was back at that training where we actually went through those steps. I realized who I was and what was important to me and how I was designed and that helped me find a position that fit me much better as to who I am and what and what I'm here to do. So yeah that was that a great. I was very excited for him and it has worked out so well in the long run.

Blake Soulet: [00:24:23] I found that that is so cool and must be very fulfilling because obviously you're still doing this work. So talk about that gentleman when he comes in and you know you know shares his positive experience with you. What about the flip-side. How do you manage or even compartmentalize when someone comes to one of your events and they're in and they leave way. You know, not feeling good. How do you how do you help them still be able to make progress even when they're not at the workshop anymore?

Carma Baughman: [00:25:06] Right yes. Even up there.

Carma Baughman: [00:25:09] There are subtle ways that I work with individuals. One of course is through workshops. I'm developing an online course. I'm also doing one on one coaching and I'm also doing what I call e-mail coaching or video coaching which is more like laser sharp focused coaching. And so for innovators that come to the workshop and really didn't get out of that workshop to really move forward, allow for this one on one coaching option to work with them or some kind of variation of that coaching To work with them if they're interested. And to be honest sometimes it's just not a fit. You know we all work with certain types of individuals the best and those other voters across our path that they just completely drain us then and I probably drain them as well if you not go both ways. And if if I feel that if I see that happening we'll address that and I can bring somebody else along or give them several or several referrals and hey maybe try this person work requests. I kind of have a team of people people that I refer my clients to depending on what and what they need maybe they need help with their LinkedIn profile and refer them to somebody else on my team in those types of things. Yes so my goal is that it works out. Working with them is the one of my coaching me. It might be that they just need more one on one focus that more than I can provide in a workshop. And oftentimes we can dig into that a bit more working one on one than what we could do in a workshop setting. And it kind of gets to where it becomes of more help to them. So those are different ways that I help those type kinds of individuals.

Blake Soulet: [00:26:53] Right. That makes sense. You're not putting yourself in a position where you are to the best of your ability. You're very aware of the type of clients you can serve best to help them move forward. That's really cool.

Carma Baughman: [00:27:11] Right. Yeah.

Blake Soulet: [00:27:13] So you also mentioned that you know you're doing you know more online courses and coming up with other solutions to serve people. What in doing that is is your workshops just local? Or do you go from city to city. What is your lifestyle like for that?

Carma Baughman: [00:27:36] Yeah, we've only done them local up to this point and we're actually kind of phasing that out a bit so we can focus to a larger geographical area. And the first step of doing that is creating this on this online course. We do have plans down the road. Well actually that is one thing that's in the planning where we ave started it yet but also to do. I'm calling it a mastermind group. It's not your typical mastermind group it's more of a online training online webinar where I'm sharing ideas and thoughts about different topics that help people get on their career path. So it might be maybe we'll spend a month in this mastermind group talking about resumes and online presence and creating a LinkedIn profile. Maybe the next month they look at how do we find opportunities out there what are some resources that we all have access to to find out more opportunities. It might be some people are designed to do side hustles in addition to their current full time job.

Carma Baughman: [00:28:43] So how do we set up those side hustle opportunities or how can you find those side hustle opportunities? Just another way I can serve a greater geographical area and greater audience is doing these Mastermind groups as well.

Blake Soulet: [00:28:59] That's really cool. I'm actually a part of one like that currently on Facebook and it's called A Thousand Shows

Carma Baughman: [00:29:06] Oh great.

Blake Soulet: [00:29:06] It's Mark Kaye and he's really really good at being able to find experts who you know know, they've got great presence online or or they really know how to deliver a great show to the audience and he brings in all these different people you know a couple times throughout the week whether it's a group that you pay for one them a hundred bucks to. We get that the access and information to be able to collaborate not only with him but also the other people in the group so I find those very very valuable.

Carma Baughman: [00:29:41] That's fantastic and I think that part some of that value is just having other people come onboard that that have those experiences that only have those experiences that have the expertise. What I like to do is is when I'm working with clients specially in that workshop setting my training training setting is is to give them examples of people who have gone before they are in the online world I like to actually bring this people live so they can share their stories and that's incredibly powerful you know. And I've done this too and we probably all do you sometimes we see these people out there that seem so success so successful and. And we don't think we can get there right.

Carma Baughman: [00:30:23] And yet what what is what is there when we have this kind of illusion. I think they're at a certain place but not really we're all the same people we're all in the same playing field. Yes some have been at it longer and may have more followers et cetera but I'm finding as I'm on this journey you know I want to get there but it doesn't mean that's that there. And I'm not sure if I'm expressing this right there better or I can't get there. It's they all start out. We all started out in the same playing field so we can get there if we have that persistence and stay at it.

Blake Soulet: [00:31:02] That reminds me of what I heard the other day and I was listening to an audio program by Selena Soo.. Her last name is Soo. And she was speaking with the guest she had on one of the things that's what this program called impacting millions. What the guest said that struck me you know like wow that's so true is that she brought up you know nature and you know before we hopped on here you said you were looking outside and you saw that it's a white out. You guys actually had snow over in the Denver area. Over here to day them. Michigan. It was raining but that was most fascinating to me about nature was that she said that regardless of what's going on in the world nature is doing its thing. You know the grass for us is and they grow a lot more. You don't ever see the grass out there complaining about not being on some other grass somewhere else. We're comparing itself about how bass is growing or what it is.

[00:32:08] It just it is going to. So every single day and do its job in overtime. Lula Garside La. The grass is very very green or if it's snowing then you look out there. Couple hours later when it was maybe just a little snow on the ground and the ground is completely covered with snow. It was all about just digging the cores which I know can be a lot easier said than done. But not always the point of it was that no you just think of it as nature and you just continually to sew up that five years 10 years 15 years out 20 years. You're in a completely different but then you were when you began. And I think that's true of all of us because of social media we can see those people. But what we don't know is that they've been doing behind the scenes for maybe almost a decade or so and just like technology is there for them to be able to showcase where they're at now.

Carma Baughman: [00:33:12] Exactly. And they and they all had the same feelings the same questions the same doubts that we have on our current journey. I work with a business coach and she reminds me constantly cause she works with people that make a lot more money than I do. She says you know where you're at. It's no different than what this person is. Maybe make a lot more money. It's just the same. We're all on the same journey and that's even though I hear that it's sometimes take off particularly get that into into me. And that's that is that the way it is.

Carma Baughman: [00:33:45] And the other thought that came to mind is you're sharing about nature and I love that example nursing I encourage people that I work with. You know sometimes be we get too focused and work becomes way too big in our lives because living living is a lot more about than just work as fat family and friends or recreation and hobbies and all of those things. What I encourage also for my clients is is to get out into nature take a walk, take your spouse out to coffee go out with some friends go have a beer with an old friend that you haven't seen for awhile kind of step back and think what this does and it is certainly a reason I have my class or encouraged my class just because it made a huge difference in my own life is when I take a step back and get out into nature or do I do a hobby or go take pictures. It's an actually finished and I'm like I think I saw this that you go out in the early morning hours and are doing videos. So sitting and getting out when it's very very quiet. And there's now all this activity going on. It's enters its centers. I can't explain why it does or how does it just it just happens. And then things come up that maybe they've buried for a long time. And there's a way of really getting to help others define who they are and what's inside is that much they have to offer.

Blake Soulet: [00:35:12] I love that you brought that up because I was actually going there next so it's like we're on this cool way right now. For you, in your own life, and obviously no it's not always business all the time. You're not doing workshops 24/7. What is how you know and a woman that you know that balance into your life are you more of a schedule person you know take us take us through how you process the day as far as organizing or managing your time and energy.

Carma Baughman: [00:35:43] That's a great question. You know it has changed depending on the seasons I mean the most the most research it the most recent kind of scheduling if you will. And I'm not really a schedule person. I do like structure I'm finding I like getting most of the the what's the word. Most of my work done in the early morning hours. I'll go and then and then have from like 1:00 or 2:00 o'clock on free whether I go work outside in the garden or I go have coffee with my husband or catch up with a friend or go on a hike or you know you mention I live in Denver Colorado. This is a great place to be outside so bicycling or skiing or snowboarding in this time of year for a little bit yet. I'd like to reserve those after mid to late afternoon and evenings for those activities outside of work just to help out tonight. I must admit I haven't always been this way. I'm I can be very focused and very work driven and I've had to work on this and realized you know there's so much more outside of work.

Carma Baughman: [00:36:49] So that's why I'm doing it currently is is getting up I'm an early bird as we discussed before we came on here. So I got up by 5 traverse between 5 and 6 and actually met and usually am in my home office by 6 and get my work done next. That's when I work best when I get most productive and then I know I it there till late afternoon and evening to do all the other fun things of life.

Blake Soulet: [00:37:13] I found that to be so much better at least for me personally because even even before I remember because normally you know 26 when I started you know my show back in 2015 2016 it was something and I guess like you mentioned there was this season and I was so angry to learn so much that it was really all that I did at that time just did it for me to get you know a thousand repetitions and I wanted to get all this stuff done. But now as I've progressed you know now I'm in a different season where I have a better understanding of what I'm doing you know making more money from from what I'm doing and I'm able to plan my day more accordingly. So for me it's I'm up 357 or fast. It's my goal when I can to go to bed by 8 p.m. there where I can get up and get those eight hours of sleep for 357 and then I do my first thing first like use the wash up and I like to break my mouth first couple morning taps into the theme in increments that way to get the snowball rolling so for 450 washing up. 4:15am to 4:30am. I write my daily newsletter.

Blake Soulet: [00:38:31] You know 4:30 to 4:45, I'm posting my daily Be FLY video on Instagram and then on to Facebook. 4:45am - 5:00am I'm heading to the gym and then it just keeps on going. I feel as soon as I pickup that momentum, there's nothing that is stopping me because when I was growing up or even a couple of years ago the biggest thing that would always hinder Me was over thinking over analyzing and in just failing to write the script of my day which causes a lot of I guess stupid time or or time sucking periods where you just don't have an idea of what your next plan of attack is.

Carma Baughman: [00:39:16] Yeah. And I love how you shared your 15 minute increments. I think I might have to work that into my routine a little bit more. I find sometimes when my early morning hours if I'm writing an article from doing a video I get so wrapped up in that into that...

Blake Soulet: [00:39:31] Yes

Carma Baughman: [00:39:32] That that time just flies by and I miss it. I miss my workout or I miss having breakfast with my husband or something and so I like if I do that 15 min increments it forces me to to kind of re-evaluate every 15 minutes they are there. I want to go do my work at now I want to go for a job now and I'll come back and do this. And it's amazing when I have done this. It's amazing when you pull away from that for a bit even though you say oh I don't want to lose my traction. Can you come back to it and you're.

Blake Soulet: [00:40:01] And when you're out there work out whatever it is that you might have done other ideas come that add to what you were working on start. I'll really like to add 15 minute necromantic. I did the leg. I forget who said it but, We extend how long we're working on something for that time we allow it so I can even remember being in college. I was like you you get an assignment at the beginning of the semester. Most times are probably way until it's about 2 3 weeks before it's due to work on it but you get it done. But. Exactly. Imagine if we started implementing many more of those deadlines around like our creative processes. And while we want to get done so. And that's been great for me because at first I would really really really struggle with writing and then also being able to talk on the fly for my videos. But the more and more I've done them and stopped concerning myself. Oh yeah. There are times when I want to make sure that something I'm saying is going to connect to with others, but more often than not I do it for me to get it done because I know that even if it's imperfect now that the more and more I do it'll get better.

Carma Baughman: [00:41:12] Yes. And how true is that perfection can be paralysis sometimes and I and I struggle with the same thing. I  want to be just right. Yet if I'm not getting out there I'm not helping anybody.

Carma Baughman: [00:41:25] So go ahead and get it do it do the best you can get it out there and then as you do it repetitive is going to get better and better as well. The other thing you mentioned Blake is that I want to go kind of go back because I think it's so important and I had mentioned it earlier as well as the different seasons of life. And there are times where you are going to work mega hours just because you're in the season as long as it's a season that's very okay because seasons come and go. If it becomes more than a season which means it goes on indefinitely then then maybe we need to step back and re-evaluate but there are seasons of life where even our values might change. When I'm in a different season obviously my days when I was in my early twenties are much different now than I am in my late 40s. So. So it's your seasons change as you go throughout life. And that's been a great reminder for me as I've gone on my career journey. There are seasons of life things seasons come and seasons go.

Blake Soulet: [00:42:24] What are your seasons now?

Carma Baughman: [00:42:27] Oh my seasons now is my husband is 11 years older than I am and so he's he's close to retiring or wanting to retire and it has forced me to kind of look ahead a bit and decide what do you want to do over. And actually I've only been married for 3 and a half years graduations and thank you thank you and we want to have this time together but we none of us have forever. So how are we going to make the most of this time.

Carma Baughman: [00:43:00] So actually our latest adventures is going to be we're working towards moving probably moving abroad down into Central or South America and just doing some traveling together with the work that I'm doing that's why I'm transitioning out. Most of this to online continue the work I'm doing but doing it doing it online so we can allow for this next season of life which is going to be spending time together and doing some traveling which is another reason why I do things in the morning hours. So we have the rest of the day to do to do the adventures.

Blake Soulet: [00:43:34] Yeah that's awesome so you're really gearing up towards your future lives. Lifestyle of adventure and isn't it so lovely that the Internet is here to help with all these these future plans?

Carma Baughman: [00:43:49] Yeah and I found even when I'm working with clients to help them realize you know there is he can do the things you love to do and still do work and pay the bills. It just kind of have to rearrange and kind of relook at things that I did from a different perspective. It's amazing what the opportunities are that are out there. It doesn't mean everything's everything's great all the time. But there are a lot of lots ways to make money and pay the bills that will still work with various different types of lifestyles.

Blake Soulet: [00:44:24] So true. Now I want to ask this for you being so involved in being a corporate trainer teaching others and I know even being on podcasts and in serving others you seem to be extroverted. Is that true?

Carma Baughman: [00:44:45] That's no that is not true actually. Blake which is which is surprising.

Carma Baughman: [00:44:49] But you know when we're when we're in when we're doing what we're designed to do. I think we probably tend to show more extroverted qualities. I know when I met when I just recently when I was doing some training one of the students said You must be a fun person when you party. And it shocked me because I'm the quiet person when when there's lots of people around and I'm not training. So yeah, surprising enough I'm more of an introvert. I love I love my quiet time. I like being around people I'm much more comfortable around people when I'm training. But I I I get tired when I am around people for too long I need I need quiet time.

Blake Soulet: [00:45:35] I'm the same way.

Carma Baughman: [00:45:36] Oh interesting. I wouldn't have guessed that Blake. I would've guessed that you were more extroverted too. Isn't that something. Yeah. Yeah. What we're doing stuff you love to do I think. I think it's obvious we're more ourselves and very relaxed and were probably more outgoing. Yeah that's an interesting and fascinating.

Blake Soulet: [00:45:58] Yeah that's really cool. Now we're wrapping up here and again guys I've been talking with Carma Baughman. We've had a great conversation about getting unstuck at work. Also her career journey. And she also walked us through her six steps for helping employees find more happiness in their current job and I'm going to rundown those. One was discovering your values. Know. Who are you. Two is defining where you are now. Three, is there something you can tweak in your current job. Four, what would be that ideal description of your future job that you could see yourself doing.

[00:46:39] Five, defining that gap which is so crucial to help you realize you know what's lacking in your current position and what it is is that you would truly enjoy being involved in any future work. And then also six, taking that massive action. So those were great. Incredible advice there and just just thoughts from Carma on what we all can do whether you're, you know work at a corporation or maybe you are even thinking about doing some. You know being an entrepreneur or doing something on the side. These steps very very easily can be applied to both situations depending on where you are and what you want to do. Are there are any other thoughts that you wanted to share with us today as well?

Carma Baughman: [00:47:36] Just to reiterate what you just said is you know there are so many different kinds of opportunities out there and these Six steps cross the board whether it is more of a corporate kind of person structure what the corporate environment offers issues are great benefits etc. and the great opportunities are here more and more entrepreneurial type individual where you can like having control over it all and figure it out as you go along. That kind of thing these these six steps across the board more work for the different types of individuals and different types of careers.

Blake Soulet: [00:48:14] So true and just as an action step you know what can people do to sort of guide themselves on this on this path of getting unstuck? Is it just simply going through the stuff you provided today?

Carma Baughman: [00:48:32] That is the start but I think even I mean even I know it's more important than that but just really start pondering who am I. [66.3]

[00:48:43] And what's important to me ask ask your close friends or your spouse or or others around you what's what's important to me. How do you see me and get some feedback on your strengths on your. Your values will pop up in there and what you like doing. I'm in the corporate world I'm sure you'd have gotten feedback on your work and what you do well and what need to work on in their world. So just pay attention pay attention to. Also even even watching a movie what stirs you inside when you watch a movie and what's what gets you what makes you really really angry or what makes you cry. So pay attention to how you respond to things. So what's going to come to the surface is what's important to you and what you value and it's going to be. It's going to help define who you are.

Blake Soulet: [00:49:35] Speaking of movies and TV shows I have a feeling that you probably watch it the same way I do. I'll pause it often to reflect on the different things that people say and I look, I write down the quotes. You know, how people's body languages are. To me it's like a class you know the people who's been making these shows in movies as years of preparation putting them together. So to me that's like another form of I know edutainment even though a lot of people will just watch it passively but I really really enjoyed digging into shows and finding other meanings or how I can apply it to Fulfilling Life's Yearnings.

Carma Baughman: [00:50:23] I love the idea that it's a class and some movies will tend to lend themselves more towards that than than others. I mean you're right. I do this especially quotes. I'll write down quotes from movies that just seem interesting and just resonate so deeply inside of me.

Blake Soulet: [00:50:40] That's awesome. [00:50:40] So before we get out of here Carma, where can we stay up to date with you and all of your progress and from fun products that you have going on? [10.1]

Carma Baughman: [00:50:51] Sure. I think the best way to stay up to date is go to a website called Get un stuck at work dot com and there will be a simple download. It's a free report but once you do that there'll be e-mails that come out that will continue help guide you on your journey. Just keep a different idea. That's the best way right now. I'm still putting together the course. Should be available shortly. But get on that. Get that free report you'll be at least in touch and I will let you know when the course is available as well.

Blake Soulet: [00:51:22] So that was get un stuck at work dot com?

Carma Baughman: [00:51:26] Exactly. Yes.

Blake Soulet: [00:51:28] Perfect. And the one thing that I always love to ask my guest Carma, when they come on is what is their definition of Fulfilling Life's Yearnings.

Carma Baughman: [00:51:39] Just so fantastic. My definition of Fulfilling Life's Yearnings is being who you are designed to be. If you live a life as if you live out your design you're going to fulfill the deepest yearnings inside of you. I think each of us has something unique to offer to those around us and if we lived that out we're going to Fulfill Life's Yearnings.

Blake Soulet: [00:52:08] And that's that's my hope for every individual is that they're able to Fulfill Life's Yearnings. Bam!

Blake Soulet: [00:52:17] Thank you so much Carma again. It's been it's been fun. And I say this often that people but it's because it's so true is that we've been talking here for about 50 minutes in and just the way we're flowing. I mean it doesn't feel like that at all. And I could stay here talking all day just because like you said we're we're we're doing what we're designed to be we're serving you know we're talking about what we love. To me there is nothing more fun or fulfilling than that. That's just really, like once I get out of here. You know this was like drinking an energy drink. You know I'm riding on that high level of endorphin release and ready to on to the next task.

Carma Baughman: [00:53:00] That's awesome and I want to acknowledge you Blake for what you're doing. I love what you're and what you're doing is so needed out there. So just just an encouragement and honor you for what you're doing. It was encouraging to me to come across your podcast to listen to your podcast. It's energizing to me. It's like you said it's like an energizer drink. When I see what you're doing and when I listen to your podcast so thank you for what you're doing.

Blake Soulet: [00:53:26] That is so awesome. Thank you so much for saying that it really means a lot to me because you know my my thing is that I want people to be able to find sources of inspiration and having someone they can look at and say oh, Blake's doing that. He's sharing his story and this and that then wow, what can I do? What else can I find that fulfills me or live my FLY Life? Or to break out of our chains get rid of that. I call it The merry-go-round Express. And just dominate our days and be able to you know live with no regrets. So yeah, thank you for saying that. And guys again,I'm Blake Soulet. We've been on here today with Carma Baughman and guys go ahead and go over to her website. I'll make sure that link is in the description. It's get unstuck at work dot com and guys also go on over to my Web site, Fulfilling life's Yearnings dot com. That that's where the episode will be and also be some links in there for you as well to not only check out what Carma is doing but also to get my book Fulfilling Life's Yearnings and the 14 FLY Traits That Will Guide You. Now it's different in that the step that karma we're sharing today. But it's also a great thing to have in addition to you being able to ponder where it is that you're going in your life and what the next season that you want to start moving toward. So as always guys love you all go out there and Be FLY.

Carma Baughman: [00:55:13] Awesome. Thank you, Blake.

Fulfilling Life’s Yearnings Is Finding The Courage To Step Into The Unknown No Matter What Age You Are. - Mr. Peace

What’s up FLY Fam®!

My FLY Guest today is Kevin Szawala (aka ‘Mr. Peace’). Kevin and I met a few years ago when I was a mentor in the school program, Reaching Higher. I was volunteering in the class with a group of students, guiding them to their best selves through an 8 week program, and Mr. Peace came in as a guest speaker during one of the sessions.

His story was awe-inspiring, and I knew I had to have him on.

Two years later, it finally happened.

Enjoy...

Kevin Szawala (aka ‘Mr. Peace’) is a National Youth Speaker, Youth Minister, Rapper & Spoken Word Poet from Metro Detroit, who travels across the country to schools, churches, colleges & youth clubs spreading a passionate message of peace, love, equality, tolerance, kindness & understanding.

A Graduate of the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor (Major in Economics & Minors in Spanish & Global Change) as well as Wayne State University for his MBA (focus in Marketing & Entrepreneurial Management), after spending time in Corporate America, he found his greater passion in working with youth. So, after being employed for several years in the Auto Industry right out of college, he made the giant leap of faith in 2010, leaving a very comfortable living (i.e., high paying job, benefits, etc.) to follow his dream of speaking & prove that one cannot put a price tag on passion.

Now teamed up with Mobile Ed Productions of Redford, Michigan (www.mobileedproductions.com), he has been able to spread his message even further. Since that time, through the use of hip-hop, humor & heart he has given hope to nearly one million young people throughout the United States, specifically with his K-12 anti-bullying & character empowerment school assembly programs.

Known by many as 'Mr. Peace' for the peace, nonviolence & social justice work he has done at U of M over the last decade through the annual P.E.A.C.E. (Promoting Ethnic And Cultural Equality) Day he hosts every September in conjunction with the United Nations International Day of Peace (September 21st), he has now transitioned his non-violence work year round by talking at schools all over America. Szawala does all of this outside of his full-time job, which is Youth Minister at St. Mary Our Lady of the Snows Church in Milford, Michigan, by taking to the road & travelling to go speak at elementary, middle & high schools on his off days & vacation time to share his heart.

As the founder of “Being Who I Want 2 Be”, a motivational speaking organization designed to help at-risk youth, ‘Mr. Peace’ has found that his sole purpose for being on this earth is to help others find their true purpose. His main message when it comes to treating people kindly is to look at one’s heart first & foremost, to see them like you would see your own best friend, to see them as one race: human. He believes that while “hurt people, hurt people”, “healed people can heal people”, & that if we choose to become healed people, we can help heal other’s hearts through love & ultimately save lives.

‘Mr. Peace’ currently resides in Michigan, loves to kayak, travel, create music, play basketball & spend time with those who matter most, especially his beautiful wife Samantha & their 3 “furry kids” (dogs) Bear, Kiki & Morello. For more information please visit his website at: www.mrpeace.org.

FLY 110 | Vernon Maxxwell | If You Can't Be Real Then What The Hell Are You Doing?

Fulfilling Life’s Yearnings Is Finding Something That Makes You Want To Get Up Everyday. - Vernon Maxxwell

What’s up FLY Fam®!

Today’s FLY guest is Vernon Maxxwell and he’s a man on a quest is to document 10,000 intimate conversations that move humanity forward by 1%. That’s FLY. I reached out to Vernon on Instagram about coming on and we set-up the date.

Vernon and I had a great convo. He even called it one his 10,000 intimate conversations that move humanity forward by 1%. You’ll see why once you listen to this episode, but if you like fake stuff and are closed-minded, this episode isn’t for you.

With that said, to get more of the inside scoop about Vernon, head on over to his website: http://vernonmaxxwell.com/.

Introduction: The House with The White Picket Fence, 2.5 Kids, Dog, and Milf...

Vernon realized through experience that the house with the white picket fence, 2.5 kids, dog, and milf weren’t for him.

[5:10] WTF Have I Learned?

Costa Rica, graduating college, getting a job, and the loss of a friend.

[13:20] It’s Extremely Important To Surround Yourself With Allies

In order to get to where you want to be, your mindset has to change, your environment has to change, and the people you’re surrounded around has to change. Remember that rising tides raise ships.

[16:37] Why Do Any Of This? What’s The Point?

Incredible experiences. The good. The bad. The shitty. Going through all that, Vernon realized that the only way he could feel like his life mattered was if his life had a noble cause. The end game just can’t be about making money or hoarding things, information or knowledge. Vernon’s gift is to create. If you’re giving value to the world, the world has no choice but to give you what you need. Looking outside of yourself for validation is a void that can never be filled. When Vernon creates he feels good, and when someone says dude that changed my life, that’s a win. We never know the end result of what we did today, but it’s a compound effect. We need more positivity. There’s a sense of urgency. Somebody needs to get this, and if they don’t, it’s our fault.

[23:00] Be Uniquely You

No one can replicate your swag. The more you can authentically show up in the world and be exactly who you are, the easier it is for you to wake up everyday and do that thing. Be you and realize that others in your space are your allies.

[26:42] Blake Goes Off

This was the point of my realest moment ever on podcast, when I just stripped down my walls, I blaked-out, and expressed my soul in its truest form. Hearing it back brought tears to my eyes.

[32:20] The Matrix

Unplugging from reality takes time. For most people, it will take them their entire life to remove themselves from the falsehoods that they have been lead to believe. That’s why it’s our job to be that light. To that light in the world to exemplify what it feels like to wake up every morning and do the thing you love because that shit is contagious. When we’re willing to change, people are fascinated by that. They’re curious. It’s easier these days to live vicariously through other people’s lives than to take action.

If I don’t get started right now with what I have, I’ll never have the opportunity to grow. Create in obscurity to level up your content and popularity.

[40:00] Expectations

Expectations rob us of our joy.

[41:00] Vernon’s Journey with Yoga

There’s misconceptions with yoga in the USA, but it dates back 3,000 some odd years from India. Intro to yoga came from a message from a friend on Facebook and from that first class, he gained aligned and had major shifts that led him to where he’s at now. Journaling has been therapeutic for him. He learned that he didn’t have to walk around with that pain and suffering. We’re all soldiers of the same struggle. We’re not the only ones to suck at stuff.

[55:00] You Belong To The People When You’re Outside

Share you are. You who are is your gift. It’s your magic. You’ll find that artists do this often, when they put themselves in what would seemingly be vulnerable positions in their music. Don’t allow yourself to be chained by the things you are afraid to talk about. That will keep you chained down and in a prison you can’t even see.

[60:00] Three Things You Can Do Right Now To Get Congruent

  1. Get a pen and piece of paper and just write whatever comes you to mind. By getting whatever is in your head out on paper, you are creating space for yourself in your mind. Cool prompts to use would be: I am great because; or I am sad when; or I love doing…
  2. Be the light. It’s not hard. Walk outside your door today and smile and say to people.
  3. Be mindful of what’s going on around you. The environment and the people around you is important. What you’ll find, is that if you are able to change your environment and the people around you, you will be able to change your entire life.

[1:03:00] Where To Find Vernon To Stay Engaged With His Journey

Website: Vernonmaxxwell.com

Instagram: @vernonmaxxwell

[1:04:20] Vernon’s Definition of Fulfilling Life’s Yearnings

Finding that thing that lights you up. That everyday you would do, regardless if you’re paid to do it, and you feel deep down in your soul, that it’s not your passion, but it’s your purpose. You were sent here to fulfill that mission.

Fulfilling Life’s Yearnings Is Making Sure Your Soul Is Pure & Whole & Making Sure That Everything You’re Doing Is Inspiring To Those Around You. - Brandon Apollo

What’s up FLY Fam®!

Today’s FLY guest is Brandon Apollo and he’s a visual and musical artist that I saw on Instagram because of his Instagram Ad, and I thought that he looked like one badass dude Fulfilling HIS Life’s Yearnings, so I reached out to him to come on.

If you’ve noticed by now, I reach out to a lot of the guests that come on my show through Instagram because there are so many FLY People on there. It’s fucking incredible to me that something like this exists, and it gives me access to reach out to anybody around the world that uses the app and ask them to come on. They can say yes or no. The outcome doesn’t concern me because I can’t control that. I can control what I do though, which is in my circle of influence.

Anyways, stop distracting me you gorgeous FLY Muthafucka. Let’s get back to talking about this FLY Episode Brandon and I did together.

This was Brandon’s first time being a guest on a podcast and he shared with me when the show was over that he was nervous as hell. But allow me to let you in on a little secret. You ready for it? Of course you are you beautiful FLY You.

Music is more of his passion than modeling and is really taking his time making good content that anyone can enjoy. Is working with a team now and creating fire content.

[31:30] The Importance of Self-Education and Doing It Yourself

FLY 108 | Marielle Kehoe | Getting Diagnosed With Multiple Sclerosis Fueled Her Purpose and She Is Fulfilling Life’s Yearnings Because of It

Fulfilling Life’s Yearnings Is Finding Something That Makes You Want To Get Up Every Day. - Marielle Kehoe

What’s up FLY Fam®!

Today’s FLY guest is Marielle Kehoe and she’s a Holistic Health Coach out of Brooklyn, New York. I reached out to her on Instagram about coming on because of the message in her content and she said she’d love to.

For a first time guest on the podcast, she was fantastic to talk with. And her story. Her story is incredible to listen to. You’ll find that out for yourself soon enough.

You can read more about Mariele on her website: https://www.mkwellness.co

Introduction: Defined Her Purpose Through Her Diagnosis

Marielle was your typical young twenty-something living in New York until an uncontrollable eye twitch made it necessary to go to the doctors, only to get some troubling news.

[3:10] Her Sister’s Words Sparked A Transformation In Her

Had a pity party for herself for a couple of years and dealt with her diagnosis the only way she knew how until the health message her older sister had been reiterating to her finally set in. She began to study nutrition shortly afterward and became a certified nutrition health coach.

[5:20] Marielle Launched MK Wellness

Encouraged to teach, Marielle Launched MK Wellness. She was blown away by the number of people that would ask her questions about health and nutrition. Because of her new diet and lifestyle, she hasn’t had a flare-up in 9 years.

[6:22] A Short Lesson on Multiple Sclerosis

Marielle gives us a quick in-depth look at Multiple Sclerosis and its genesis. It’s one of 80 different autoimmune diseases. 80% of our immune system lives in our gut. With (MS) Marielle’s immune system sees her myelin sheath as foreign invaders and attacks them and thus disrupts the signal her brain sends her nerves. (MS) means multiple scars. Scars could be on your brain, cerebellum, or spine. Certain scars dissipate because of diet and lifestyle. To read more about MS, click here.

[12:00] Healthy Habits Moving Forward

Exercise, healthy diet (she’s paleo), good sleep. Allow yourself to naturally progress into your healthy lifestyle changes. Kaizen them. Take small steps.

[16:20] Assessing Gut Health

Eating bad foods or foods that are not good for your body, will cause problems.

[19:00] Getting Quality Sleep

Sleep is the only time our bodies have to stop and repair. 7 - 10 hours a night is optimal. It’s like a rest day from working out. Your body wants to take a break.

[26:20] Social Media’s Impact

Social media allows us to connect with people and share our messages. It allows for edutainment.

[33:30] The Thing That Marielle Is Advocating For As A Holistic Health Coach

She advocates doing what works for you, and more importantly, following an anti-inflammatory diet.

[42:20] Scheduling Time Accordingly

Marielle plans her time out a week ahead which allows her to stay organized and get things done. Her iPhone is her go-to time-management device.

[44:00] Returning To Our Inner-Child

Curiosity is an incredible thing. Explore those things that you find yourself saying you wish you could do or had the time to do. People have so many fears that if they explore a passion, they won’t get any external validation from doing it.

[48:00] No Burnout. What You Do Is A Self-Care Ritual

Burnout doesn’t happen when you truly enjoy what you are doing.

[56:30] Blessing In Disguise

Being diagnosed with (MS) did not define Marielle’s life. It’s part of her life. Her disease helped her improve her health.

[57:00] Where Can We Connect with Marielle

We can go to Marielle website: http://www.mkwellness.co/.

Marielle’s Instagram: @mkwellnesscoach.

[58:14] Marielle’s Definition of Fulfilling Life’s Yearnings

Finding something that makes you want to get up every day.

FLY 107 | The Possibilities are Endless When You Start Over and Design Your Life with Purpose and Authenticity w/ Vanya Lazarova

Fulfilling Life’s Yearnings Is Following The Signs and The Drive Within You, Living Life On Your Own Terms, and Honoring Yourself. - Vanya Lazarova

What’s up FLY Fam®!

Today’s FLY guest is Vanya Lazarova. She’s a Life Coach that works and plays in New York, and let me tell ya, once you hear her story on the podcast you’ll understand why I thought she would be an incredible addition to our ongoing FLY List.

Vanya is a coach that specializes in helping people create their life's work by starting with purpose and authenticity. She loves writing, reading, psychology, philosophy, arts and all forms of self-expression. She co-founded a personal development podcast called "The Coaching Journal", where she and her partner Katy Trost offer thought-provoking concepts to empower people to intentionally design the life they desire to have.

You can read more about Vanya on her website: https://www.liveauthentic.net/about/

Introduction: The Journey Of A Girl From Bulgaria

My incredible guest today is Vanya Lazarova. We connected on Instagram and I messaged her, inviting her to come on the show.

[2:07] Still Can’t Believe How This Journey Has Unfolded

Vanya was born and raised in Bulgaria and moved to the United States in 2010 and since that moment, she made it her mission to find her purpose and a meaningful career, and design that for herself since she didn’t have a career path set from college, as her degree is in philosophy.

For a few years, Vanya did a few different career paths, but she didn’t feel connected to any of them so she decided to go deeper and really figure out what would make her the most happy and fulfilled person she could be.

[4:23] Found Coaching In A Way You Wouldn’t Expect

Coaching just started showing up in her life and people were asking her about it, and because of that she could no longer ignore the signs that were showing up and started surrounding herself with people who were into coaching and then decided to look into it, and now she’s been coaching for a year and a half now.

[5:57] Piecing It Together

Coaching is a way of living life. Growing up, Vanya really hadn’t pieced it together, and her journey of piecing things together really manifested itself in her life, after moving to New York. She was in disbelief in whether she would ever find her purpose in life and was at the crossroads.

[12:08] Let Your Fascination Drive You, Instead of Following The Social Template

Growing up, Vanya was always drawn towards meaning and purpose, and so those were the things that she did, but as she got older, she was ignoring those things to the fit the mold of what everyone else was doing. After doing the things that she didn’t love, she went back to being true to herself and doing the things that fulfilled her.

[16:44] Coming To Terms with Purpose-Driven Work and Pushing Through The Fears and Doubts

The fears and doubts were real for Vanya because she was questioning whether people really needed the service she provided. She had to open her awareness to the idea that the work she does, though it doesn’t fit the current work paradigm, is so beneficial to people that want more purpose and meaning in their lives.

[20:07] The Steps Necessary in Creating A Life With Purpose and Meaning

The first step is awareness. What things make you happy in your soul? Many people don’t know their values, and that is a good place to start as well because that will help with getting aligned with what you enjoy.

[22:00] Creating Your List of Values

Whatever your values are, those should be the things that fuel your work. One of Vanya’s values is a deeper connection with other people. She loves people. Vanya also values curiosity and freedom.

[30:46] Being Authentic and Giving Yourself Self-Love

Authenticity can be a real challenge but not being yourself is so draining. It takes becoming aware of what you are hiding from and what you are afraid of and putting it down on paper, to gain back your freedom. Journaling helped Vanya overcome holding herself back.

Self-love is radical self-acceptance. It’s being vulnerable. It’s coming to terms with who you are and putting a mirror in front of your face, and saying that “This is me.” It’s coming into a deep discovery of who you are.

[35:31] The Coaching Journal Podcast

Vanya’s podcast started as a passion project with her friend, Katy Trost. The podcast has allowed her to share her voice and to fully express herself. Authenticity is a major message for their show.

Vanya has found that it can be a challenge to share our message because of our gremlins (internal critics). But journaling has really helped mute those gremlins. Accepting that the gremlins are there has actually freed her. Asking yourself great questions helps free you from those gremlins.

“The magic happens once you let go and open up.” - Vanya Lazarova

[44:00] Returning To Our Inner-Child

Curiosity is an incredible thing. Explore those things that you find yourself saying you wish you could do or had the time to do. People have so many fears that if they explore a passion, they won’t get any external validation from doing it.

[50:00] How To Avoid Overwhelm and Getting Stuck

Taking it step by step and prioritizing your goals. Multitasking is not helpful. Taking your time is key. Kaizen one thing and give it 100% of your focus is the best way to move forward. Kaizen is breaking down a goal to small, incremental steps that you can accomplish easily.

[54:00] Just Do The Thing

Tackle the most uncomfortable thing on your goals list and break it down into the simplest of steps possible because that will help you move ahead faster than you would’ve been otherwise, with your purpose-driven work, or passion. Don’t be in the hall of fame of getting ready to get ready.

Fulfilling Life’s Yearnings Is Finding Your Passion Regardless of What Everyone Else Says; Finding That One Thing That Gives You Purpose For Life. - Justin Hatchett

What’s up FLY Fam®!

Today’s FLY guest is a Super Mogul. He’s an image consultant, creative director, CEO and fashion designer for Top Shelf or Die, involved in artist management, and so much more, and he is making his first appearance in the FLY Zone®. This Super Mogul is Justin Hatchett. Justin is a 22 year old from Detroit that I had the pleasure of meeting IRL a few days before he came on the show. We both happened to be in Detroit at the world famous Eastern Market.

I was down there with my mom, shooting a commercial for our fashion line, LIVE IT! LOVE IT! Detroit®, and Justin was down there getting his models ready for The Walk Fashion Show audition that was taking place in one of the event sheds there, before heading to his own fashion show across town.

We connected again the next day over the phone, chatted in person the day after that, and had the interview for Fulfilling Life’s Yearnings on Friday, October 13, 2017 @ 11am, and the episode was phenomenal, as Justin provided so much value that I could take everything we talked about and make a powerful course from it that would accelerate your FLY life in the most powerful/impactful way, whether you’re entrepreneurial like Justin, or not. It doesn’t matter.
